Holdrons Hops is a bottle shop in Peckham’s bustling Rye Lane, selling a range of craft beers and ciders. The owners approached me to create a brand that connects to the history of the building. They wanted something simple yet mature and would give the shop an immediate authority as an expert provider of high quality beers and ciders. Working together we developed a concept of a library or archive of beers, stocking a large and exotic range.

The result is a hand drawn word mark that radiates a bookish art deco character and takes ownership of the dark bottle green maintaining a consistency across various assets. The hand drawn element gives the project a dimension of craft echoing the handcrafted, high quality products on sale in the shop.

In addition to the brand, a few playful illustrations were introduced as a way of breaking up quite a rigid formal structure.

Peter helped flesh out a direction from a few ideas. He understood the ambitions we had for the project. The brand connected with our customers, we were constantly selling out of tote bags with our logo on it!
